Other than its self-branded devices, Xiaomi is also known for releasing products under its two sub-brands: Redmi and POCO. Both were created to offer different devices in different price ranges and market preferences.

Now, a new report claims that Xiaomi is preparing yet another sub-brand, or possibly just a new series of smartphones. The said devices is said to be made for tech enthusiasts.

From what it looks like, the “tech enthusiasts” Xiaomi is referring to are the fans of OnePlus, which used to be a pro-enthusiast brand but is slowly transforming more like its parent company, OPPO.

Such consumers also used to like Google’s Pixel devices, albeit the brand has seen declining popularity in India. Now, a void has been created, and Xiaomi wants to fill that.

The report suggests that the new line of devices will run on the powerful Qualcomm 700 series of midrange processors and will have a clean Android operating system — possibly no MIUI. The cheaper options will come with a Snapdragon 765 CPU while the more expensive ones will have a Snapdragon 778 processor.

Such devices are also secured to get three major updates and four years of security patches.

As for the price, the devices will retail from around INR15,000 (around Php10,500) to INR25,000 (around Php17,600). They will then be built in India.

Xiaomi is yet to make a formal announcement, so take this information with a grain of salt.
