OnePlus’ previous strategy of launching several smartphones a year powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series, have obviously worked great for the past few years. The company is yet to have a phone for under $500, as the OnePlus 8 series is targeted at the high-end segment.
We can now confirm from information gathered that OnePlus is developing an entry-level Android phone, powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 460 processor. According to sources, the phone has an imminent launch, to be available globally, inclusive of the US.
The device which is yet to be named, is branded Clover. It will feature a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage with a slot for microSD. There’s also a rear capacitive fingerprint sensor for security.
The OnePlus Clover will pack three rear cameras which consists of a 13-megapixel main camera paired with dual 2-megapixel cameras. The most significant feature is its 6,000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. Without a doutb, it aims to give up to two days of battery life when you combine the battery with the hardware and the 720p display.
The launch of the OnePlus Clover is expected to take place later this 2020, with the price tag being within $200 range, in line with the specs it offers. OnePlus is obviously targeting brands like Realme and Xiaomi with this entry-level phone, with clear resemblance of the Realme C15. It makes a lot of sense that OnePlus is doing the same with Clover, just as the Nord shares most of its parts with the Realme X50 series.
Clover will be on sale in the US, which will help OnePlus introduce its products to more people. OnePlus never released the Nord in the US, but promised to launch variant which could possibly be the Clover. Hopefully, more information will be available in the coming weeks with regards to the Clover.
