Various smartphone manufacturers have been teasing us with foldable smartphones for years now. But this time, we finally have a tangible information about a working prototype.
Based on a recent report, it looks like Samsung will beat everyone in the race. Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy X, this foldable smartphone might possibly launch early next year and it will be made available in select markets.
Back in CES 2018, Samsung held a secret meeting to showcase a prototype of their foldable smartphone. The prototype featured three 3.5-inch OLED panels. When combined, the two panels can easily make a 7-inch screen, while the third display is said to be a dedicated information ticker.
The prototype has an in-folding design, but the final aesthetics has not been finalized yet. According to the report, Samsung is trying both in-folding and out-folding design. The company is expected to come up with a final decision in June of this year.
Other than the design, Samsung is also figuring out how their foldable smartphone can provide the best user experience.
As always, rumors like this always come with a disclaimer. Until it gets officially announced by Samsung, take it with a grain of salt.
