Xiaomi-R1-render-leak-bezel-less-44

Xiaomi is set to launch its own entry to the mid-range 18:9 smartphone market.

To combat the extremely aggressive push of OPPO, Vivo, and Huawei, Xiaomi is looking into beeinf up its line-up even more. Aside from the recently launched Redmi Note 5, the company is said to be working on a handset which will play by the rules of the competition.

According to the render above, it seems like the Xiaomi R1 has less rounded corners on the side when compared to other Mi smartphones. The bottom of the device only shows a lone USB Type-C port and speaker grills, which means that the 3.5mm headphone jack has been removed.

Xiaomi R1 also appears to feature a dual front camera setup, but the sensor at the back is currently unknown. Since there’s no place in the chin due to the thin bezels, the fingerprint scanner is also expected to be relocated in the back portion of the device.

While its rumored price of 1,499 yuan ($227, ~Php11,850) isn’t really of the typical Xiaomi standard, it’s still relatively low compared to its competitors. Anyway, we have to reserve judgement until we get to see the rest of its spec sheet.
