OPPO’s first A-series smartphone to get the 18:9 treatment spotted in the wild.
Unsurprisingly, the OPPO A79 is very similar to the OPPO F5 and F5 Youth when it comes to looks. The tall 18:9 aspect ratio screen is making an appearance in the company’s A-series and it seems like they’re going all in on this new trend.
The device was previously leaked over a week ago and it is said to have the same internals as the F5. According to the video, it will sport 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It’s also indicated that it has 3000mAh battery capacity with support for OPPO’s VOOC fast charging technology.
The display is still 6-inch in size with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) pixel resolution. Both the front and back have a 16-megapixel sensor for taking photos. The phone will ship running on Android Nougat with Color OS 3.2 on top.
It’s currently unclear where will this handset fit in the line-up as the price conversion of 2,399 yuan (~Php18,000) to Philippine peso suggests that it’s way more expensive than the F5.
The OPPO A79 is scheduled to launch five days from now, on November 30, 2017.
