In a press release, Converge ICT announced that it finished installing submarine cables that will connect Visayas and Mindanao to its national fiber backbone.
The submarine cables have landed in Cagayan De Oro last Wednesday. As per the company, the cable was landed through San Remigio, Cebu. The Php6 billion domestic submarine cable project will also connect Visayas islands such as Negros, Panay, Leyte, and Bohol.

In a statement, Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said that they are looking forward to bring their fiber broadband services to Visayas and Mindanao. Regions where high-speed internet connection is scarce.
The company boasted that they use fiber optic submarine cables provided by French supplier Nexans Group and other global suppliers for its backbone project. It’s apparently the same technology used by South Korea and Singapore — countries known to have one of the fastest internet speeds in the world.
