The top three telco players in the Philippines: Globe Telecom, PLDT, and DITO Telecommunity, have created Telecommunications Connectivity Inc. (TCI), a joint venture that will handle the trio’s Mobile Number Portability project.

As per TCI General Manager Melanie Manuel, their operations will be funded by Globe Telecom, PLDT, and DITO Telecommunity as they prepare for the launch of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in two months.

Back on February 19, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Republic Act 11202, better known as the Mobile Portability Act into law. This will allow users to switch networks and keep their existing numbers.

By 2020, the top three key players in the country signed a deal for the implementation of MNP.

Now, a few days ago, it’s been revealed that the joint venture company, TCI, has successfully completed the initial tests for the MNP.

Now, before the official rollout on September 30, the trio will focus on optimizing systems and backend business operations, iron out the external porting process, and implement fraud and security safeguards.
