There are many reasons why subscribers cancel their phone or internet lines. Some are moving into a new place, while others are not completely satisfied with the service so they end up terminating the agreement with their provider. Today, we’ll teach you how you can close your PLDT account.
PLDT Termination Fee
There is no termination fee if the PLDT subscription is beyond the contract’s lock-in period, which is usually 2 years (24-months). But if you are still under the contract’s lock-in period, you will be required to pay for the termination.
The computation for PLDT pre-termination fee is usually three times the monthly cost of your subscription. For example, if you’re paying Php1,699 per month for a 20Mbps plan, the termination fee is Php1,699 x 3 which amounts to a total of Php5,097.
Why should you close your PLDT subscription?
A lot of people don’t really bother cancelling their internet or landline subscription. They just leave it be and they stop paying their bills. However, this is not a good idea because you will be blacklisted in PLDT. This means that you can no longer avail of their service in the future because your name and address are already marked with a bad record in their database.
Terminating your PLDT line is very easy and hassle-free than you think. You can cancel your PLDT MyDSL, PLDT Home WiFi, and other subscriptions by following these instructions. Here are the 4 easy steps on how to terminate your PLDT line.

How to close/cancel your PLDT account
Step 1
Make a call to your network provider. For PLDT, the hotline will be 171. The the customer service representative will give you the information about your outstanding bills that must be settled before you can proceed to the termination process.
Step 2
Prepare a Letter of Termination for PLDT. The letter must include the details about your account or subscriber name, account number, landline number, and of course the reason for termination. Do not forget to include the date.
You can write a simple letter detailing the disconnection request and the reason behind it, because PLDT representatives are required to make reports on the reason of termination. You can even write the letter on the spot at their office.
If you’re not good at writing, you can just say “I am closing the account because I no longer need a landline of internet service.” Or “I am closing my PLDT account because I am not satisfied with the service in our area and it’s getting terrible.” Or one of the most common reasons “I am closing this account because I am transferring residence and I want to try another new contract in there.”
Step 3
Go to the nearest PLDT office. Since you need to settle your payments, it is better to go physically in the nearest branch. The customer service representative will then give you the accurate computation of the pending bills that you need to settle. Make sure to bring the following to avoid any hassle.
PLDT termination requirements
- 1 valid ID (check this list)
- Termination letter
- Authorization letter (if needed)
- Cash
If the account owner cannot personally go to the PLDT office to file termination, a representative must bring an authorization letter together with his/her own valid ID.
Step 4
Wait for 2-3 weeks to process your request. The customer service will give you a call to confirm the termination. Sometimes they will ask you few questions about your termination request. After receiving a call, the termination may happen within 1-3 days.

Should you return the PLDT equipment?
All the equipment or modem will be surrendered to your network provider right after the termination. But if you paid for it in full, you may keep it to yourself.
You will be provided an acknowledgement receipt as a proof that you have already returned them to PLDT. Make sure to keep this receipt for future use or in case you encounter any problems.
Things to remember when closing down your PLDT plan
When you cancel your PLDT subscription, there’s a good chance that you won’t be able to get your telephone number back in the future. This is because PLDT, like other providers, recycles old numbers when they are no longer in use.
As for internet connection, it’s important to note that PLDT Fibr cabinets are often full because they have so many subscribers. So, in case you want to avail of their internet service again, you will probably wait a long time because there’s waiting list.
The termination process sometimes take a long time, so it is important to make follow-ups to the PLDT hotline provided to check the status of your request. Or if you have the time, you can just go to the nearest branch to check for updates.
That’s it! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate and ask them in the comments section below so we can help you out.

has anyone experience cutting of their pldt fibr internet but still retain the landline number?
thanks in advance
Our line was cut last year during typhoon Odette here in Cebu and we requested it to be repaired but nobody came to fix it. We continued to receive bills and kept paying for a few months without connection hoping that they will fix all the line issues. We are very disappointed that no one came. We stopped paying and we requested to stop the subscription and they are ignoring us. Our bill now reaches 12K without having internet connectivity.
Hi!
May I just ask if it’s OK to request for a termination here in Manila even if the pldt subscription is in the province specifically Cagayan Valley?
Thank you.
I would like to terminate our PLDT landline subscription because we no longer need this subscription as we pay every month but do not use the telephone.
I am transfering residence and i want to relocate our wifi to our new house.. We requested for it and waited for too long but until now is no avail. Please Don’t make us wait for too long because our job’s depends on it.. Thank you
Thanks. PLDT is so congested na. Switching to globe. My neighbors have better ping than me and i check everyday because we play games together lol
Gusto koh sanang ipaterminate Yong PLDT wifi ko … Kasi di na namin kailangan gamitin.
Same. Kaso mag 1 year pa kami this month. So applicable pa ata yung x3 na babayaran. Grabi sakit sa batok nman
Good day I would like to complain about or billing statues since our connection in pldt stop last febuary 20,2022 ,I would to inform that the billing is still continuing, thank you.
I call in hotline but if cancel .. how to terminate my pldt. Kong palagi nilang cancel
same sakin panu po i pa stop palaki ng palaki ung payment di nmn na nagagit kasi disconnected na
Same with me.. Wala naman dapat bayaran dun kasi disconnected at hindi na coconsume ung services nila..
I tried terminating my PLDT due to change of residence. I sent all the requirements thru email as per their instruction. They sent me a confirmation that it will be processed within 24 hrs. In just less than 5 mins, they sent me an email again. They told me that they cancelled my request because i did not submit a valid ID. But I did. I already talked with their reps in their office, thru twitter, and thru calls. However, there is no update until now. I am not using their service since Feb 14, 2022. Yet, they continue billing me. I tried to talked with them amicably but they continue to ignore my concern. Honestly, I’m really pissed off. Because I really tried to settle this because I’m looking forward to their services in the future. But, it was all like they’re just scamming me. Billing me continuously even though I am not using anything from them anymore. And not considering or even understanding my concerns. I don’t even know if NTC or other government agency regulates them properly. Because this is just abusive as well. And they just keep doing it like they don’t even care.
🙌
Hello po, I am experiencing same scenario now. I called pldt to disconnect my internet connection and they said yes, I paid my last balance because we are transfering to a new place last December 2021, but until now even if I don’t have the connection my bill still ongoing and adding, just today I got a text message, saying that they will file a luwsuit if paid disregard, tanong ko po, ano po ginawa nyo to stop this messages, naka kakaba pos kasi ehhh.
Salamat po.
Same with me.. I don’t bother it nalang kasi wala nmn din aq makukuhang services from them.. Simpleng pagnanakaw lang na dinadaan nila kunyari sa lawsuit..
hindi pa din nateterminate plan nyo? planning to terminate our connection as well kaso 3 months pa sa contract.
Ok lang Po ba yon ma’am na wag nalang pansinin… Nag email Kasi sakin lawsuit nila .nakakakaba din Po hehe
Stupid, moronic, redundant bullshit like this is the reason why Filipinos are fucking morons and always will be. In CIVILIZED countries, we just make a phone call, cancel, and it is done. We do not need personal appearances, stupid-as-fuck written letters, waiting WEEKS, or anything else.
I am do happy I left such a shitty country.
The system is really out-dated, frustrating and irritating but you attacked the Filipinos in general. I don’t know if “CIVILIZED PEOPLE” in your “CIVILIZED COUNTRY” acts the same. I’d rather want to meet a decent person than a civilized one, basing from what I read on your comment. Anyway, good riddance!
