There are many reasons why subscribers cancel their phone or internet lines. Some are moving into a new place, while others are not completely satisfied with the service so they end up terminating the agreement with their provider. Today, we’ll teach you how you can close your PLDT account.
PLDT Termination Fee
There is no termination fee if the PLDT subscription is beyond the contract’s lock-in period, which is usually 2 years (24-months). But if you are still under the contract’s lock-in period, you will be required to pay for the termination.
The computation for PLDT pre-termination fee is usually three times the monthly cost of your subscription. For example, if you’re paying Php1,699 per month for a 20Mbps plan, the termination fee is Php1,699 x 3 which amounts to a total of Php5,097.
Why should you close your PLDT subscription?
A lot of people don’t really bother cancelling their internet or landline subscription. They just leave it be and they stop paying their bills. However, this is not a good idea because you will be blacklisted in PLDT. This means that you can no longer avail of their service in the future because your name and address are already marked with a bad record in their database.
Terminating your PLDT line is very easy and hassle-free than you think. You can cancel your PLDT MyDSL, PLDT Home WiFi, and other subscriptions by following these instructions. Here are the 4 easy steps on how to terminate your PLDT line.

How to close/cancel your PLDT account
Step 1
Make a call to your network provider. For PLDT, the hotline will be 171. The the customer service representative will give you the information about your outstanding bills that must be settled before you can proceed to the termination process.
Step 2
Prepare a Letter of Termination for PLDT. The letter must include the details about your account or subscriber name, account number, landline number, and of course the reason for termination. Do not forget to include the date.
You can write a simple letter detailing the disconnection request and the reason behind it, because PLDT representatives are required to make reports on the reason of termination. You can even write the letter on the spot at their office.
If you’re not good at writing, you can just say “I am closing the account because I no longer need a landline of internet service.” Or “I am closing my PLDT account because I am not satisfied with the service in our area and it’s getting terrible.” Or one of the most common reasons “I am closing this account because I am transferring residence and I want to try another new contract in there.”
Step 3
Go to the nearest PLDT office. Since you need to settle your payments, it is better to go physically in the nearest branch. The customer service representative will then give you the accurate computation of the pending bills that you need to settle. Make sure to bring the following to avoid any hassle.
PLDT termination requirements
- 1 valid ID (check this list)
- Termination letter
- Authorization letter (if needed)
- Cash
If the account owner cannot personally go to the PLDT office to file termination, a representative must bring an authorization letter together with his/her own valid ID.
Step 4
Wait for 2-3 weeks to process your request. The customer service will give you a call to confirm the termination. Sometimes they will ask you few questions about your termination request. After receiving a call, the termination may happen within 1-3 days.

Should you return the PLDT equipment?
All the equipment or modem will be surrendered to your network provider right after the termination. But if you paid for it in full, you may keep it to yourself.
You will be provided an acknowledgement receipt as a proof that you have already returned them to PLDT. Make sure to keep this receipt for future use or in case you encounter any problems.
Things to remember when closing down your PLDT plan
When you cancel your PLDT subscription, there’s a good chance that you won’t be able to get your telephone number back in the future. This is because PLDT, like other providers, recycles old numbers when they are no longer in use.
As for internet connection, it’s important to note that PLDT Fibr cabinets are often full because they have so many subscribers. So, in case you want to avail of their internet service again, you will probably wait a long time because there’s waiting list.
The termination process sometimes take a long time, so it is important to make follow-ups to the PLDT hotline provided to check the status of your request. Or if you have the time, you can just go to the nearest branch to check for updates.
That’s it! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate and ask them in the comments section below so we can help you out.

I have a question:
Can PLDT switch a subscription from DSL for Fibr without the letting the customer know?
For a long time I was using DSL. Then one time I had connection problems and when the modem was changed, I noticed my WIFI username had the word FIBR on it instead of HOMEDSL. I don’t remember being asked to switch or signing anything that mentioned switching my internet connection.
Can they just do that? And will I be put under a new lock-in period for that?
I’ve been a subscriber since 2014 and I think the switch happened in 2019.
I’m just afraid they’ll put me under a new lock-in period. I’m planning to have my subscription terminated because of bad service, which is very very unfortunate.
I hope someone can shed some light on this. Thank you.
just call 171, ask what current plan you are subscribed to then ask if you are still within lock-in period. If you are no longer within lock-in period, you can just call them again (171) and request for termination. This process will take 2 – 3 weeks so make sure to do it 3-4 weeks before the day PLDT will send your next month bill.
Also, make sure to have at least a 3 hour free time cause you will do a lot of waiting (1-2 hours of waiting for me every single call I made in my experience at least) before your call will be answered.

its almost a month now (aug 27) when my pldt landline and internet connection was disconnected for unknown reason. Ive reported the incident to PLDT HOME at messenger, almost everyday and the only answer i got was the repair ticket #. I was thinking of terminating my subscription because or poor service. And i expect that someone from PLDT will update me on the status through my email but sadly they can’t do that. Ive been a loyal subscriber of PLDT for more than 30 years ans rhis is what i got. Bit i’m still hoping that thru this comment PLDT would give noticed t9 my complaint. Please, i’ve not used your services since august 27, so i expect thay you will not charge me of anything. BE FAIR PLEASE AND LEARN TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR LOYAL SUBSCRIBER. Thanks. Fernando SC Antonio
i won’t waste my time calling them… getting through with their customer care hotline will transform you into a monster! i have spoken with one call center sometime in january this year when they inquired of a pending bill payment… i said i wont pay for something i never used since the internet was disconnected already, they better disconnect the line at all… until then, they continued sending bills with the internet service still included though no longer accessible… until this september, they disconnected and yet they still billed me with more than P12k… pldt is in the business of communication but doesnt know how to communicate propertly– mvp is stupid rich!
i need my subscription terminated. ever since the pandemic started and the quarantined happened back in march i was not able to go back home. no one was using the internet nor the landline yet the bill keeps going. the hotline waiting time was too long.
. If termination is made during the lock-in period as stated in the Subscriber Application Form, the Subscriber shall pay a pre-termination fee in the amount of the full Monthly Service Fee multiplied by the number of the months left in the lock-in period as stated in the Subscriber Application Form or as may be specified at the sole discretion of SBI
-from pldt Terms and condition.
if your plan is p1299 and you pre-terminate say a year later, you will pay the remaining 24 months plus other termination fees not 1299×3.
Pls do some research.
What if after my application they sent me an email and SMS stating that my application was CANCELLED. So I decided to apply to a different provider instead. But just today, they sent me an email with an account and subscription details. Do I still need to pay the termination fee? The service is not yet installed.
What have you decided to do?
