Still, the country has seen substantial improvements since the new administration started. OpenSignal said that the country has achieved a 37.7% increase in average overall download speeds more than a year since President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was inaugurated.

The improvements are attributed to the high capital expenditures of the country’s top telcos, which were ignited by the government’s push to remove red tape and streamline the permitting process for the creation of telco and internet infrastructures.

Internet availability has also improved as the country scored 95.3 points.

The study was conducted by OpenSignal by collecting data 90 days pre-Marcos presidency ending on July 29, 2022, and 90 days after he took office until August 29, 2023.
