Last week, PLDT announced a new set of devices that can truly benefit the subscribers of their Home Fibr Plan.
These new PLDT Home Fibr devices include an ultra-fast router, child-friendly internet modulator, and a new smartwatch that lets you track and communicate with your kids. Let’s take a quick look down below.
AC 3200 Ultra Wi-Fi router
PLDT partnered with D-Link, a company that is known for being one of the leaders in creating network devices, to bring an AC 3200 Ultra Wi-Fi router. These monster of a router promises a faster and more reliable connection via its Tri-Band frequency. A Tri-Band wireless router like this is made to cater those households that has a lot of devices connected to its network.
I would not go into the more technical terms about this device, but basically, having a router with Tri-Band frequency allows you to have a lot of gadgets connected at once, without congesting the network. It can also cater to extremely fast PLDT Fibr speeds which is really beneficial for those who are subscribed to the higher plans.
The AC 3200 Ultra Wi-Fi network really makes sense with the PLDT Fibr Plans as an ultra-fast internet connection would be useless if the wireless network can’t deliver its full potential to the connected devices. So if your house has a lot of smartphone users, laptops, smart TV or any other WiFi-enabled devices, then you might want to consider getting this one.
Other than the speed benefits, this router was also able to cope up with your smart devices as it has a 1GHz dual-core processor to adequately support all of the devices connected. It also features a downloadable companion app called mydlink Lite, which allows you to see and adjust the router’s setting without having to use a browser. It also shows the current bandwidth speeds, view connected devices and their browsing history and block/unblock network access. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices.

And lastly, let’s not forget to talk about the router’s looks. I mean, look at the product image above, it looks like a creepy giant spider when you turn it upside down, thanks to its six antenna bands.

AC 1900 Wi-Fi router
If you think the AC 3200 Ultra Wi-Fi is overkill for you, PLDT also has a slightly more basic option, the AC 1900 Wi-Fi router. The router features a dual-core processor, three power amplifiers, and two detachable antennas.
FAM ZONE Box
PLDT also introduced the FAM ZONE Box, a device that manages the network access of the connected device in your network. The company is marketing it as a device that helps you monitor and control what your kids are accessing on the internet, which is really beneficial since a lot of the young ones today spend most of their time online and playing games on either a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
The FAM ZONE Box allows you to block pornography websites, restrict access to social networks and YouTube Contents (perfect during the exam week), disable device features including the camera, limit app downloads and in-app purchases (which really makes sense since we’ve seen some news reporting parents being surprised with their steep credit card bills), restrict access to mobile games and apps, remote administration and management, and set user profiles and settings.
The FAM ZONE Box connects easily with your existing WiFi modem with an easy set-up process and zero maintenance.

PLDT now also offers a smartwatch. There are three available smartwatch to choose from, but the one thing that really stood out is the one from Alcatel, which has a bright orange and blue tone that might appeal its prospected users, which are the kids.
The device works just like most smartwatchs today, but PLDT is marketing it as a device that can help you communicate and track your kids from wherever you are. The watch is can be equipped with a Postpaid Landline Plus (PLP) SIM which comes with FREE 60 minute free calls to Smart/TNT/Sun and 50MB of data for the GPS feature to help you jumpstart.
PLDT Fibr is also offering D-Link security cameras, which they are calling FAM CAMs. We’ve talked about these cameras before which you can check out here. It features two D-Link cameras; the basic one, which has a built-in microphone with a motion and sound detector. Meanwhile, the Advance FAM CAM has the same features but is also equipped with a speaker for 2-way communication; pan, tilt and zoom function; and a microSD card slot. These cameras, as what PLDT is advertising it for, helps you monitor your family and home from wherever you are.
