The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said that there were more than 105 million SIMs that have been registered before yesterday’s deadline, July 25.
As of July 24, Smart Communications has the most registered SIMs with 49,990,446, followed by Globe Telecom with 48,378,674, and DITO Telecommunity with 7,548,724. This translates to 63% of existing SIMs across the Philippines registered. DICT noted that 70% of the figures could be legitimate as some users may own more than one SIM.
The DICT affirms that there will no longer be any extension for the SIM Registration after the original deadline of April 26 was already moved to July 25.

If you missed the deadline it means that, starting July 26, your SIM can no longer receive and make calls, texts, and use mobile data for the internet.
However, there’s still hope, as there’s a 5-day grace period that will give you time to reactivate your SIM. To do so, simply connect your device to WiFi to gain internet services. Then, proceed to your telco’s respective SIM reactivation page and complete the process. You have until July 30 to do this.
The SIM Registration Act was signed into law on October 2022 with the goal of curbing text scams, spams, and more.
