Smart Communications and Globe Telecom are offering free calls and internet services to the victims of the on-going Taal Volcano eruption. Charging stations are also provided in select areas.

According to a report by Rappler, Smart has given communications assistance to the the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel who are helping Batangas residents. Moreover, charging services will be provided in their PLDT Tagaytay office.

The company also said that they coordinating with the Philippine Red Cross and government agencies to help the victims.

Meanwhile, Globe also offers free internet to the victims. In a Facebook post of GoWiFiPH, free and unlimited internet is available in Ninoy Aquino Internal Airport (NAIA) and select malls.

Currently, around 80,000 airline passengers are affected due to the eruption of Taal Volcano according to Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA). In addition, thousands of people residing around the area have been evacuated.

It is also reported that Globe has set up free calls and charging stations at the Barangay Amuyong Covered Court, Alfonso, Cavite.

Both networks announced suspension of work and services in affected places. As of now, Taal Volcano is under Alert Level 4 which means hazardous eruption is imminent.
