One of the key features of Smart Phone Protect is its inclusivity; the plan is available for both new and existing devices in proper working order. This means that even phones purchased outside of Smart’s offerings can be covered, ensuring that all Smart subscribers have access to this protective service.
Lloyd R. Manaloto, Smart’s Head of Prepaid, emphasized the importance of protecting smartphones, considering their integral role in daily life. He noted that Smart Phone Protect is priced comparably to phone accessories, making it a cost-effective solution.
Jerome Y. Almirante, who leads Innovations and Digital Services at Smart, highlighted the value of finding a suitable plan without straining one’s budget. Meanwhile, Roberto Vea, Commercial Lead of Igloo, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Smart to broaden the reach of this mobile insurance service.
Signing up for a plan is straightforward: subscribers need to visit smrt.ph/phoneprotect and provide their name, mobile number, email address, and phone details. They can then select their preferred Smart Phone Protect Plan, choose payment terms, and complete the transaction using a mobile wallet or debit/credit card. Policy details are sent via email upon successful registration.
Take note that the service covers not only covers brand new devices, but even those that are still in good condition. It only requires that there are no cracks, dents, and scratches.
In collaboration with Igloo, an InsureTech company, Smart Phone Protect ensures prompt servicing for claims and repairs. Particularly for users in Metro Manila, the turnaround time for device repair can be as quick as 24 hours, minimizing hassle and inconveniences. Those who are in other parts of the Philippines can wait up to 5 business days to finish a transaction.
To file a claim, users will be required to submit the date and description of damage, photo of the affected device, government ID, as well as an incident or police report. Within 3 business hours, the claims will be reviewed so the user can proceed with the repair or replacement of their unit.

We tested it out to see how much it’s going to cost for some of the popular midrange smartphones in the Philippines. The OPPO Reno11 Pro, HONOR 90, Samsung Galaxy A54, and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ all cost Php1,000 or less per year for basic protection. Not bad for extra peace of mind.
