There’s a new Google Maps ad, and it’s based on a true story. After 25 years of being away from his family, an Indian man found his way home by means of Google Earth.

It all started in 1987 when Saroo Brierley—a five year old at the time—and his brother boarded a train towards home but missed their stop. His brother unfortunately died at some point, while he was eventually labeled a “lost child.” He was then adopted by a couple and lived in Australia. With nothing else but vivid childhood memories, Brierley went on searching for clues on Google Earth. “It was a needle in a haystack, but the needle was there.”

The world may be big, but Brierley’s story shows the Internet can help you find your destination. If you ever get lost in urban Metro Manila, just check out the new Sakay.ph website for the best routes.
