Samsung has introduced an upgraded Notebook 9 line of laptops.
The Korean electronics giant went ahead with the early reveal, cutting off its competitors who plan to announce their PC and laptop products on next year’s CES.
There are 13.3 and 15-inch models of the Samsung Notebook 9 laptops but not much specific information has been released about the 7th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. Intel, the maker of the Kaby Lake chipset, is expected to debut the product at CES. Nevertheless, the new lineup would surely get a boost in processing and video capabilities.

According to PC makers, Kaby Lake will be giving from 5 up to 15 percent improvement in performance when compared to its predecessor. Watching videos with resolution of above 1080p will now also be possible on the integrated graphics.
The new Samsung Notebook 9 laptops can have as much as 256GB SSD storage. The 15-inch model is limited to 8GB of RAM because it’s soldered on the board while the 13.3-inch variant can get up to 16GB RAM. Weird.
When it comes to battery life, it’s no match for the likes of Apple’s Macbook. It’s rated for up to 7 hours, which isn’t that impressive considering a single work day can sometimes stretch for up to 8 to 9 hours. Both models are extremely lightweight, even less than the Dell XPS 13 and ASUS Zenbook 3. The 13.3-inch weights only 816 grams and the 15-inch is 984 grams.
Fortunately, Samsung didn’t skimp on the ports. It includes one USB Type-C and HDMI ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and a microSD card slot. Meanwhile, the bigger sibling gets an extra USB 2.0 port. As a security feature, Samsung has added a fingerprint scanner.
Samsung has not disclosed the pricing of the Notebook 9 laptops as of the moment. But based on last year’s model, the base 13.3-inch variant will go for $899 and the higher-end 15-inch model will be priced at around $1200.
