In spite of the global pandemic that influences consumer spending to essentials, Apple’s smartwatch products remained sought-after. The products see total revenue growing by 20% and global shipments by 22% throughout H1 2020, as per analytics firm, Counterpoint.

The increase in sales owes largely to the demand for the fifth generation Apple Watch, particularly in both North America and Europe, which goes in line with people adopting a health-conscious lifestyle as facilitated by technology. Partly driven by the fear originating from the pandemic that sees a growing population of infected and dying individuals.

Another major driver of the growth was India which saw 57% increase over the same period from a previous year.

Overall, nearly 42 million smartwatches were shipped across the entirety of the first half of 2020.
