Archos continues to attempt on gaining relevance in the Android market. The French company’s latest stab at the tablet arena is the Archos 101 XS 2, a 10.1-inch slate powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean that will set users back for only $279.

As the “2” in the name suggests, this tablet is the sequel to the original Archos 101 XS. The current-gen model improves on the pros that gave its predecessor a positive reception among critic reviews: keyboard dock, white chassis, and a 10.1-inch screen. Other specs of the Archos 101 XS 2 include a 1.6GHz quad-core A9 processor, a Mali-400 GPU, 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion up to 64GB, and 2GB of RAM. There are also front-facing stereo speakers and dual cameras, to boot.

Users looking for productivity will appreciate the Archos 101 XS 2’s Coverboard, a keyboard add-on that also acts as a magnetic cover to protect the tablet. It can charge the tablet, too. Pre-bundled software aimed to please workaholics include a full version of OfficeSuite Pro 6. Should the storage be inadequate for all documents and media files, Archos also offers 15GB free cloud storage on Google Drive.
