It’s been quite an interesting year for Augmented Reality. The surreal technology shows a lot of potentials that even Apple is now on board. More so, smartphones are also poised to dominate the AR space. The first to the race is the ASUS Zenfone AR, and it’s now launched in the Philippines.
Announced earlier this year, the ASUS Zenfone AR possess Google’s Project Tango — a program that aims to make augmented reality commercially available. With this, the handset packs motion tracking and depth-sensing cameras to fully analyze a scene.
But other than AR, the new Zenfone device is also geared for Virtual Reality. This new ASUS smartphone will also have Google DayDream support.
Besides the ingenious features, the Zenfone AR is also the first device to come rigged with 8GB of RAM. This is may be due to the horsepower needed to handle virtual objects pinned in real-world scenarios via AR.
Furthermore, the ASUS Zenfone AR also has all the bells and whistle you’d expect on a high-end smartphone. There’s a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core CPU that ensures everything is running smoothly. A roomy and ultra-fast 128GB UFS 2.0 internal storage and a 23-megapixel camera for pictures and videos.
