I’m in love with tablets, although I’m yet to get one of my own (no my old 7 inch Coby tablet with its resistive screen and Gingerbread OS doesn’t count). While there are a lot of mainstream choices from tons of manufacturers but there are also a lot of compelling budget options from lesser known makers.

EGL Marketing Corporation, the local importer of Ainol tablet, has just announced one such monstrous tablet: the Blue Devil W30 Warlock. The Blue Devil W30 Warlock (also known as the Ramos W30 Warlock), is a 10.1″ quad-core tablet that rocks the SAMSUNG Exynos 4412 ARM CPU and the quad-core Mali 400 GPU. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the same quad core chipset that powers the Samsung Galaxy S3!

Update: EGL recently updated their Novo7 Tech Facebook page with the specs of the Blue Devil W30 Warlock units they will be importing. According to their spec list, the battery capacity is 5,400mAh, not 4,500mAh. The specs I originally posted was from the ramos-tablet.com site. Ramos is the manufacturer of the Blue Devil W30 Warlock and Ramos is used interchangeably with Blue Devil.

EGL didn’t post any details about the W30 Warlock on their Facebook page, however I did a little research and dug up the specs from the main Ramos Tablets website. Aside from the Exynos chipset, it comes with a 10.1″ 1280×800 capacitive IPS screen, 1Gb of RAM, and 16Gb of internal storage. It also looks like a very premium device, with the shell material being metallic in a white finish and all. Another thing that I like about the Blue Devil W30 Warlock is that it has Bluetooth support, something that not many budget tablets from Chinese manufacturers offer. Of course, it also comes with WiFi b/g/n, a micro USB port, 3.5mm earphone jack, and support for the official Play store app market.

No news on Philippine pricing and availability yet, but the international Ramos Tablets website lists it at $239. Straight conversion would put it at around Php10k, but customs taxes will drive that price up if you try to buy it directly. It’s best to wait for EGL to import it in the Philippines‘ shores this January so your pocket won’t take as much of a hit.

  1. Regarding Ramos W30HD same specs just with Retina 1920×1080 screen

    – I bought this unit last Sunday May 12, 2013

I spoke too soon after my rave review of Ramos W30HD. It seems it is prone to overheating when watching movie in maximum brightness. After almost 30min. it would hang and blackout screen.

After charging it full. I watched a movie and after about 30min. it blackout.

I connected the power so that it will charge however the same blackout happened after about 20min. and I thought the screen was burning out, it created a huge circle inside the screen. After I removed the power the same huge circle disappeared.

I think this is an engineering defect because this is the 2nd unit the first I bought was replaced with same blackout with huge circle if it is connected to power, you wont see it when watching on battery. Also the store showed me another one with the same grayish defect on screen about 2inches from upper left corner.

Maybe the cpu or gpu is responsible because it is so hot to touch on the left side. Now this unit is total blackout no power even when charging.

I would like to e-mail the pictures while it is connected to power because you wont see it when watching on battery.

  2. Thanks for the update about Blue devil.I like the features of the Blue devil.I will definitely order one for myself.
