Cherry Mobile has been quiet for quite some time. For the last couple of months, we haven’t seen any new releases from the local tech company. However, that changes now as we see a downpour of new products from them.
Almost all of the new devices that came out from Cherry Mobile are Android Go Edition smartphones. It feels like they’ve submitted numerous smartphone ideas to Google in the last couple of months, and it’s just now that they got finally approved.
Moving on, what we’re taking a look now is the Cherry Mobile Desire R6 Lite. Just like the Flare A2 Lite, Flare J2 2018, and others, this new member of the Desire line-up only has low-end hardware.
The Cherry Mobile Desire R6 Lite has a 4.95-inch FWVGA TN screen, which is a throwback from 2015. It’s running on a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable storage.
Cherry Mobile Desire R6 Lite might have an unexciting set of hardware, but that’s exactly the reason why it runs on Android Oreo Go Edition. With this operating system, Cherry Mobile was able to cut the price down by equipping it with budget-friendly hardware, without taking a large hit on the performance as the OS makes everything run as smooth as it can.
Since it’s in the budget segment, we can’t really expect anything good from its cameras. There are 5-megapixel front and 8-megapixel rear cameras in tow. While the pixel counts are not as low as we expected, we won’t be surprised if they are not that good to shoot with.
