The pioneer device sporting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google Nexus 7 has finally arrived in the Philippines. Announced way back in Google I/O, this device got numerous positive feedbacks because of its good specs and excellent price. This tablet was made in partnership of Google and Asus in line to the next Android update. As we all know, every new Nexus device brings in an upgrade to Android.
Google Nexus 7 features a 7-inch display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution and IPS technology to cater you greater viewing angles and clearer colors. However, standing at a not so large resolution, it will not be the sharpest display you’ll see out there – if you’re too geeky. Asus Nexus 7 will be powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip clocked at 1.3GHz and a 12-core GeForce GPU for graphics enhancement. A now common 1GB of RAM will also be packed in to make sure that the tablet will run as smooth as possible even with high-definition games and apps.
When it comes to connectivity, it will have the Near Field Communication (learn more about NFC here), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Yes, there’s no 3G or 4G data connectivity available. Sad yet? If this tablet has support for built-in 3G, this may be a good contender to compete with the new iPad.
As expected even before its official unveiling, the Google Nexus 7 will be the first one to use the latest update to the Android mobile operating system – Jelly Bean. Not only that, two apps namely; Youtube and Maps, were given makeovers to enrich the user experience with the help of Nexus 7’s HD display. One weird thing though is that is doesn’t have the standard of a rear camera, instead it only has a 1.2MP front-facing camera.
In spite of all this features, the most important factor that may greatly contribute to Google Nexus 7’s success, is its price. Selling for only $199 for the 8GB model and $249 for the 16GB variant, this is one of the cheapest branded tablet with high quality specs you’ll ever see. Check out the official introduction and commercial video below.

Wanting to get the Nexus 7 in the Philippines? Asus Google Nexus 7 was available unofficially in Villman Computers a few days ago for 18k but when I checked it today, it is nowhere to be found. Maybe they run out of stock due to the high demand. In the meantime, let’s just wait for the official Asus Nexus 7 tablet release in the Philippines. It will be available in two colors; black and white. I’ve listed below the peso conversion of its SRP. However, don’t expect to see that kind of price here since taxes will and other fees will still be added.
Google Nexus 7 price in the Philippines if directly converted to peso:
- 8GB $199 – Php8,950 (estimate Php13,000)
- 16GB $249 – Php11,200 (estimate Php15,000)

how much?
i am choosing between nexus 7 and htc flyer, but due to recent price drop of htc flyer, i think i will choose the latter. It has camera, pen, sd card and better build quality
but it has outdated hardware and software.
pwede ba instagram sa nexus 7? thanks!
of course
pero front camera lang
Just sharing, I just bought this device 2 days ago and it was superb! But to my disappointment it does not support flash… and knowing that no flash means a problems when browsing, but you can install flash if you root your device which I doubt you would coz wrong rooting would render your device inoperable… but the specs is a grab for such a low price… I hope the Nexus 8 will be 3G capable and packaged with a microsd card slot. If Google releases this I am pretty sure the price tag will significantly increase but what the heck its still worth buying than a piece of crap (Ipad) LOL!
Thanks for sharing!
where did you bought and how much?
specs of this one is good but not perfect. im not buying this one YET.. pretty sure that google will again release another version of it with rear camera which would be more awesome.
sana lower lng.. kasi napakaganda ng specs nya sa napakamurang halaga..
sa tingin ko doble na ang price nito kung est. 13k ang price nito sa pinas, wala ng sense ang pggng low price nito kung ganun kataas. ang 199 dollars pag convert m sa peso ay dapat nasa 8,557 lng and lets say add a vat, i dont how much will b added but aleast 1k to make it 9,500 is more justified price para bilhin ko to.
It’s just a guess. Hopefully it will be much lower.
pwede ba ang Skype sa Nexus 7? di pa kasi ako nagkakaroon ng tablet eh, hehe. so via USB port pwede mag transfer ng file? tsaka dapat ba ba may i download munang video player para mag play ang mga video or movies na ni-transfer sa nexus?
for transferring files, may dala na siyang data cable. as for playing videos, depende sa format. mp4, h.264, mkv, atbp. and android has apps for that. may vlc and qq player. heck, you can even download movies using torrent apps in the n7 itself. “the beauty of android!”
you can really download movies?? Thanks for the info. I’m buying this! :)
Yes, it can.
did you read the review? pwede skype, lalo na’t my front cam yan. eto maganda sa android phone, kahit anung phone hawak mo bsta android, gamay mo na ang use, kahit samsung pa yan, htc, or sony bsta android alam na alam mo na interface, unlike dati kapag my nokia ka, tapos naka hawak ka ng Motorola, mdyo lito ka sa interface.
ung video lahat yan pwede, kaya tayo merong apps store ung google play ng android.
is there a sim slot for this device???
no..did you actually read the review?
