It’s pretty clear that the new Nova 2 Lite easily dominated the OPPO A83 in this comparison — at least on paper. However, in some areas, the A83 managed to get a slight lead or a draw.

One of the obvious edges of the Nova 2 Lite is its screen and operating system. This device has a 5.99-inch display and it runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 — the same software version running on Huawei’s current flagship, the Mate 10.

On the other hand, the OPPO A83 only runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. That’s the OS you’d usually get from a device of this caliber, but Huawei made the effort to step up. Also, its screen is only 5.7-inches diagonally, which is still not that bad and perfect for those who want a more compact device. This only means that the pixel density is much higher, so it’s a little bit sharper when you look closely.

OPPO A83 Specs

I would also like to commend the Huawei Nova 2 Lite’s color options. The device will be offered in shiny Blue and Gold variants, with a matte black option available for those who want to take the stealth-looking route.

Huawei managed to cram in a fingerprint scanner and a secondary camera at the back, something that OPPO has failed to do on the A83.

However, let’s me point out that the OPPO A83‘s has a slightly larger battery at 3,1280mAh. Also, OPPO’s A.I. Beautification selfie feature is probably one of the best in the industry today. And if you’re concerned about selfies, the company’s technology is definitely the best choice in the market right now.

The obvious winner here is the Huawei Nova 2 Lite. But we don’t know the official pricing yet, so it may or may not be more expensive than the A83. Remember that this is just a comparison of the specifications, so real-world usage may slightly differ. Ongoing rumors suggest that it will be priced at around Php11,000 to Php12,000.

  1. lame review. try to include gaming performance and you’ll see how far oppo a83 is. rating of sd 430 is around 40-50k in antutu. whilst the helio p23 found in oppo a83 scores past 80k. not to mention oppo a83’s gpu which is the best by far mali g71 (found in higher-priced phones like Samsung A8.

Camera is also a bit better in a83.
