It didn’t take long before foldable phones become affordable. Now we have the HUAWEI Pocket S, which is currently the cheapest foldable smartphone in the market.
The HUAWEI Pocket S has a similar layout and form factor as the P50 Pocket. It has a tall but slim foldable screen, a clamshell design, and a secondary screen on the cover.
It has a 6.9-inch OLED panel with a pixel resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. It boasts a fast 120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM, and 360Hz touch sampling.
The back has HUAWEI’s signature dual-ring design. The first one holds the 40-megapixel RYYB sensor and 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, which you can also use for taking selfies thanks to the secondary 1.04-inch OLED display that has a 340 x 340 resolution.
This cover display can also display notifications and other relevant information. There’s still a 10.7-megapixel sensor on the top of the main display if you want to take a normal selfie or do video calls.
So, what makes this device cheap? Well, it’s only powered by a midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor without the 5G connectivity.
Since it is first coming to China, it will ship with Harmony OS 3.0. The battery is rated at 4,000mAh and charged by a 40W adapter.
Aimed toward the yuppies, the device comes with tons of color options to fit your style: Pink, Silver, Gold, and Green.
The HUAWEI Pocket S is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions with a price of CNY5,988 (around Php48,200), CNY6,488 (around Php52,200), and CNY7,488 (around Php60,2000), respectively. All with 8GB of RAM and will be available starting November 10 in China. No word yet if it’s coming to the Philippines.
