Flip phones may have gone the way of the dinosaur, but that hasn’t stopped LG. The Korean electronics giant just announced the LG Wine Smart, an entry level Android smartphone that just so happens to feature a clam shell design.

The LG Wine Smart has a 3.5 inch HVGA display, packs a 1.2GHz quad core processor under the hood, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. One weird feature aside from its clam shell design is its alpha-numeric keyboard with a T9 layout that I haven’t seen on anything else but a dumbphone since maybe 2007.

This isn’t the first time a Korean manufacturer has tried to bring flip phones back to life. Samsung had a couple of stabs at it, with the most recent being last year in the form of the Galaxy Golden. However, with the limited demand, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing the LG Wine Smart anywhere outside its target market of Korea any time soon.

LG Wine Smart Specs

  • 3.5″ HVGA display (320 x 480 resolution, 165ppi)

  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB ROM
  • 8mp rear-facing camera with LED flash
