Meizu has officially announced their newest premium smartphones, the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus.
It seems like smartphone manufacturers are finally catching up to Vivo in terms of the in-display fingerprint scanner. More and more companies are rumored to use the same technology in their upcoming smartphones. Today, Meizu has launched their own take.
Just like its predecessors, the Meizu 16 comes with a Plus variant. As the name suggests, the Meizu 16 Plus is bigger of the two, with its screen stretching up to a huge 6.5-inches while the standard Meizu 16 is only a 6-incher.
Meizu 16 and 16 Plus features a Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. On the lower part of the screen is the fingerprint rear, which could unlock the phone for as fast as 0.25 seconds.

Bezels on the side are very thin, measuring at only 1.175mm. The Meizu 16 Plus is as wide as an iPhone 8 Plus, but it has almost 40% more screen surface area. According to the company, it flaunts a very high 90%+ screen-to-body ratio.
On the back, the Meizu 16 Plus has a dual-camera setup composed of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and 20-megapixel telephoto camera. To assist in low-light scenarios, the Meizu trademark 6-LED ring flash is making a comeback.
The Meizu 16 has a similar camera configuration, together with the 20-megapixel selfie camera. Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhancements and auto HDR is available, made possible by the Snapdragon 845 processor.
In order to improve the cooling and performance of the chipset, Meizu included a vapor chamber to look after it. There’s also the proprietary mCharge technology to quickly top-up the 3,570mAh battery of the Meizu 16 Plus and 3,010mAh capacity of the Meizu 16.
Another highlight of the two phones is the stereo speaker setup. The first speaker is located on the earpiece while the second one is on the bottom of the device next to the ports. Thankfully, the 3.5mm is still here.
The Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus are available for pre-order in China right now and they will be released on August 16 and 20, respectively. Check out the official prices below.
