HMD Global has released the new Nokia G42, which also has a big focus on sustainability.

The Nokia G42, much like the Nokia G22 from February, has a big focus on repairability so if a part gets broken, you don’t have to purchase an entirely new smartphone. The brand teamed up with iFixit to offer official repair guides and even OEM parts like batteries, displays, and charging ports.

As for the specs itself, the G42 is clearly a midrange device. It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ octa-core processor, which comes with 128GB of internal storage and an option between 4GB and 6GB of RAM.

There’s a compact 6.56-inch IPS display on the front, with a fast 90Hz refresh rate, but only with an HD+ pixel resolution. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

It has the usual 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging. As per Nokia, the battery can keep 80% of its original capacity even after 800 cycles. The device also IP52 rating for being dust and water-resistant.

For the cameras, there’s a 50-megapixel main shooter on the back but is only joined by two 2-megapixel sensors — no ultra-wide. A waterdrop notch on the front holds the 8-megapixel selfie snapper.

The Nokia G42 with a 6GB/128GB configuration has a price of EUR199 (~Php12,000) and is now available in Europe. Release details in the Philippines are yet to be known.
