OnePlus’s two new additions to the Ace series includes the Ace 5 Racing, a powerful non-flagship with the biggest battery ever found on a OnePlus phone.
The OnePlus Ace 5 Racing boasts a 7,100mAh battery. It uses silicon-carbon technology to maintain a relatively thin and light profile that’s only 8.2mm and 200g, respectively.
OnePlus didn’t put enough emphasis on how good this battery is. Unlike other big-battery phones, the webpage only showed two longevity figures: up to 7 hours of playing popular games at full frame rate and 26 hours of watching TV series continuously.
The big battery is paired with an 80W SUPERVOOC charger that should provide a full charge in about an hour and a half. Bypass charging will send power to the motherboard directly, so you can play games while plugged in and not worry about overheating.
Moving on, the Ace 5 Racing comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor. That’s less powerful than what the Ace 5 Ultra has, but it will get the same RAM and storage options (minus the 1TB).
OnePlus also included a dedicated G1 connectivity chip, with the entire internals relying on the large 7000 sq mm vapor chamber for cooling.
For the cameras, we have a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. No ultra-wide or telephoto, sadly.
A 16-megapixel selfie camera is placed on top of the 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and sharp FHD+ resolution.
The OnePlus Ace 5 has a starting price of CNY1,799 (~Php1,799) for the 12GB/256GB model. It is now listed in China with release details in the Philippines and other markets yet to be known.
