Without any official announcement or launch, OPPO has put up the the new OPPO A53 on pre-order at Lazada Indonesia.
Before anyone gets confused with the name, it’s not the 5-year old A53. This new entry-level smartphone packs decent specs and a pocket-friendly price tag.
The OPPO A53 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 octa-core chipset, together with Adreno 610 GPU and 4GB of RAM. No storage option other than 64GB, but the company made up for it by offering a microSD slot capable of handling up to 256GB.

Screen size and resolution are pretty much what you’d expect from a 2020 budget smartphone, but what’s surprising here is the 90Hz refresh rate. It also has a tall 20:9 aspect ratio and a punch hole on the top-left corner, which houses the 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera.
As for the primary cameras, there are three of them on the back. A 13-megapixel main sensor is supported by 2-megapixel lenses, although the listing didn’t officially say what they are for. But if we were to guess, it’s probably for portrait and macro shots.

Software-wise, it will be running on OPPO’s proprietary ColorsOS 7 based on Android 10. There’s also 5,000mAh battery to keep it running all day. In addition, it supports 18W fast charging on its USB Type-C port.
The OPPO A53 will be available in Fancy Blue and Electric Black colors. It’s priced at Rp2,499,000 or around Php8,2000 when converted directly to Philippine peso.
