The OPPO A71 was released late last year (read our review here). For 2018, the company is upgrading it a little bit for this year’s version.
Quite oddly, there’s not a lot of new things with the OPPO A71 (2018). It still has the same design from its predecessor, which means that it still doesn’t have an 18:9 aspect ratio screen that we saw on the F5 and the newly launched OPPO A83.
It will also sport the same 5.2-inch HD screen, 3000mAh battery, 16GB of onboard storage, 5-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel at the back.
The difference can be seen under the hood. The 2018 variant will now use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, moving away from the MediaTek MT6750 chipset found on the first version. Unfortunately, the memory has been reduced from 3GB to 2GB.
However, since the processor is better, we can expect games and apps to run faster.
The OPPO A71 (2018) was also updated to ColorOS v3.2, the interface which is seen on newer OPPO smartphones. This means that the device will also have the AI-powered Face Beauty technology which was first introduced in the OPPO F5.
