OPPO’s current elegant and flashy design language continues to live with the introduction of the OPPO A78 5G, a new midrange smartphone from the Chinese tech giant.
The OPPO A78 5G is available in two contrasting colors: Glowing Purple and Glowing Black. They have a shimmering effect with a distinct shiny surface that highlights the dual camera setup and some of the branding. The signature OPPO Glow accent is also here.
Speaking of which, we have a sharp 50-megapixel main camera joined by a monochrome sensor. An 8-megapixel lens is on the front for selfies.
The main shooter has a 108-megapixel Ultra-Clear Image that takes much clearer images.
Powering this device is, you guessed it, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor yet again. It has 8GB of physical RAM, but you can add another 8GB of virtual memory with OPPO’s RAM Expansion technology as it sources it from the 128GB of expandable storage.
Another highlight feature is the 33W SUPERVOOC charging, which can fully charge the 5,000mAh battery in just 67 minutes. A half an hour charge can already provide around 52% of juice.
The A78 5G also managed to have a stereo speaker setup, which has an Ultra Volume Mode that can increase volume by up to 200%. We tested out a similar feature on the OPPO A77s and it works great.
For visuals, we only have a standard 6.56-inch IPS screen with an HD+ resolution. On the upside, the A78 does have an IPX4 rating for being water resistant. It also runs on the latest Android 13-based ColorOS 13.
The OPPO A78 5G was launched in Malaysia for a price of MYR1,099 (~Php13,900). No word yet if it’s also coming to the Philippines.
