Oppo has just announced a smartphone that knocks the socks off even the current flagship smartphones. The Oppo Find 7 boasts a 5.5″ screen with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi thanks to its 2K resolution. Yup you read that right: 2K resolution. Why? Because 1080p is sooo 2013. I personally don’t know why we’d need that much resolution on a relatively tiny screen, but that’s how the cookie crumbles. Regardless, though, a lot of people would be very excited, me included (despite my misgivings on its principle). But the screen resolution isn’t the only one that makes this phone a powerhouse. The rest of the specs is sure to make anyone drool.

Oppo Find 7 Specs

  • 5.5″ Gorilla Glass 3 display with 2K (1440 x 2560) screen resolution, 538ppi
  • Quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU with Adreno 330 GPU
  • 3GB of RAM, 32GB ROM, expandable via microSD up to 128GB capacity
  • 13th, f/2.0 rear camera with IMX214 Sony Sensor, dual LED flash, and support for 4K video capture and playback.
  • 5.0 front camera
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Android 4.3

Now those are some pretty hefty specs! To top it off, the main camera utilizes what they call Pure Image 2.0 technology that can consolidate ten pictures together to form one gigantic 50MP image. Oppo also said that the battery can be charged from 0% to 75% in just 30 minutes. At a SRP of 3,998 Yuan (roughly PHP 28,850), it’s certainly worth a look.

But if its price is still too steep for you, they’re also going to release a gimped version, called the Oppo Find 7a. It has a more modest set of specs, with just a 1080p display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB RAM, and a 2800mAh battery. With specs no different from current flagship devices, it’s still pretty good, IMHO. It also costs less at 2,998 Yuan (roughly PHP 21,703) The Find 7a will also be available earlier in China this March 20. No word yet on when the Find 7 would be available, but methinks it won’t be far behind. Anyone think we’re ready for 2K resolution on smartphones? We want to hear your comments!
