As distance learning and remote working became a huge thing during the new normal, there had been a boost in demand for tablets. This is why a couple of prominent brands who were hesitant to release a tablet for years now has one. One of them is OPPO, who just unveiled the OPPO Pad.
Introduced alongside the Find X5 and X5 Pro, the OPPO Pad is targeted at the higher-end market who wants to have a well-equipped tablet for work or play. It comes with a powerful Snapdragon 870 processor, which you can get with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB of storage.
On the front, we have a decent 11-inch LCD screen with a fast 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. Uniform bezels are a trend in a lot of tablets today, and the OPPO Pad has it, too, with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera disappearing from it.
What’s not a trend is the brave and distinct design on the back with the OPPO branding with huge letters and abstract positioning. It comes in black, purple, and a special Artist Edition with unique etchings.
The tablet works with the OPPO Pencil stylus that has 4096 pressure sensitivity levels and attaches to the tablet itself magnetically and charges wirelessly.
If you want to go full work mode, there’s also the proprietary keyboard case that you can also get separately.
Despite its large size, it only gets to have an 8,360mAh battery, albeit it does come with a 33W fast charger.
The OPPO Pad starts at CNY2,299 (around Php18,700) for the 6GB/128GB, while the 8GB/256GB top-tier variant has a price of CNY2,999 (around Php24,400). The keyboard case retails for CNY399 (around Php3,200) while the OPPO Pencil surprisingly costs more at CNY499 (around Php4,000). It will be available in China starting March 3. Release details in markets like the Philippines are yet to be known.
