Fresh from the launch of the OPPO F5 here in the Philippines, OPPO has also released their new R11s and R11s Plus back China.
The OPPO R11s and R11s Plus are the company’s quick follow up to the R11 devices, which were released back in June. This time, the new R11s devices get the hip 18:9 aspect ratio display that was first seen on the F5.
The two are pretty much the same with their older brothers with very few differences. The screen resolution has been bumped up a little to accommodate its taller display. It’s now an FHD+ screen with 2160 x 1440 resolution. Both are also protected with the same Gorilla Glass 5.
OPPO is also introducing a new design feat called “Crescent Arcs”, situated at the bottom section of the device. This, in theory, will not only have an aesthetic appeal but would also prevent the user of completely muting the loudspeakers when using it in landscape mode.
Inside, the OPPO R11s and R11s Plus are still powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. It also has the same 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual camera combo at the back. In front, the 20-megapixel sensor gets the F5’s AI Beauty Mode feature.

And since the front of the handset has been dominated by the screen, the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. As more devices adopt an almost borderless screen, we can expect the fingerprint scanner to be relocated elsewhere. Not unless we see another smartphone that is as bold as the iPhone X, which completely removed it.
Lastly, the bigger OPPO R11s Plus gets to enjoy a larger 4000mAh battery and 6GB of RAM while the OPPO R11s will only feature a 3205mAh battery and 4GB of RAM.

The OPPO R11s will retail in China starting November 10 for CNY2,999 (~Php23,200). The special red color variant will be at a premium price of CNY3,199 (~Php24,800). On the other hand, the OPPO R11s Plus will be sold for CNY3,699 (~Php28,600) and it will go on sale on November 23.
