It feels just like yesterday when we reviewed the Reno11 series. Now, the OPPO Reno12 and Reno12 Pro have been introduced in China.
Both the OPPO Reno12 and 12 Pro come with 6.7-inch OLED screens with a high 120Hz refresh rate. They are also the first in the series to have quad-curved screens. Plus, there’s the Corning Gorilla Glass protection and the die-cast aluminum alloy frame that can survive being dropped better.
One of the key differences between the two is the cameras. For the Reno12 Pro, we have a 50-megapixel IMX890 1/1.56-inch main sensor, joined by a 50-megapixel 2x telephoto lens for portraits, a 50-megapixel selfie camera, and a decent 8-megapixel ultra-wide.
For the vanilla Reno12, we have a smaller 50-megapixel LYT500 1/1.95-inch sensor. The ultra-wide, telephoto, and selfie cameras are the same.
They also differ in the processors used. The Reno12 Pro swapped the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chip. Meanwhile, the Reno12 uses a Dimensity 8250, which is essentially the same as the Dimensity 8200 of its predecessor.
Both models share the same 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. OPPO claims that the batteries can retain 95% of their original capacity even after 1,000 charging cycles.
Since it’s 2024, OPPO has introduced a bunch of new AI features to the Reno series. A lot of it we’ve already seen from other Android phones like removing people from the frame, fixing if a subject has blinked, and replacing the background.
It also has other features like summarization and transcriptions of dictations, solving math formulas, and more.
The OPPO Reno12 has a price of CNY2,699 (~Php22,100) for the 12GB/256GB, CNY2,999 (~Php24,500) for the 16GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB, and CNY3,199 (~Php26,200) for the 16GB/512GB. Meanwhile, the OPPO Reno12 Pro comes in at CNY3,399 (~Php27,800) for the 12GB/256GB, CNY3,699 (~Php30,300) for the 16GB/256GB, and CNY3,999 (~Php32,700) for the 16GB/512GB.
