After a few months of rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Core Lite was finally made official in Taiwan. Despite the Lite name, the Galaxy Core Lite is actually a more powerful version of the Galaxy Core Advance thanks to a better processor and LTE connectivity.
The Galaxy Core Lite comes equipped with a 4.7 inch WVGA screen, which is the same size and resolution as the Galaxy Core Advance. The processor also got upgraded from a lowly dual core processor to a much more capable quad core Snapdragon 400. The Snapdragon 400 comes with a better Adreno 305 GPU, not to mention the much-appreciated LTE-connectivity.
The rest of the specs are what you would expect from your typical mid-ranger. You get 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Thankfully, storage is expandable via microSD. It’s also powered by a 2,000mAH batter, which should be adequate enough considering the processor, screen size and resolution.
Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Core Lite comes with Android 4.3, not Android 4.4. This is a bit of a disappointment considering Samsung has released a number of low end phones like the Galaxy Ace Style runs KitKat 4.4 out of the box.
Right now, it’s priced at 7,988 TWD (Taiwanese Dollars), which is equivalent to Php11.6k after straight conversion. That price is almost certain to go up when it gets here thanks to the folks at customs, but hopefully it won’t that much higher than it already is. That way, budget-minded folks can afford to get a branded LTE handset at a price that doesn’t break the bank.
