Samsung just announced two new entry-level android phones called as Samsung Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Young.  These smartphones are targeted to hit the casual consumers who still want a smooth android experience but with a limited budget. Check out their specs after the jump.

We recently covered a story about six new Samsung devices that appeared on benchmarks and just like the 128GB iPad 4, it was confirmed officially days after the leak. However, we only have two devices here so that leaves 4 handsets hanging but we’re sure that they will follow shortly.

Samsung Galaxy Fame flaunts a slightly bigger 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 1GHz single core processor, 512MB of RAM, 5-megapixel camera, and VGA front camera. Although this is a low-end (or mid-range) smartphone, it will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean so that’s a major plus for people who like to try Google’s latest offering. But still, considering how mediocre these specs are, we can’t expect a buttery smooth performance here.  See the full list of specifications below.

Samsung-Galaxy-Young

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Young features a toned down specs when compared to the Fame (not in all categories though). It has a  smaller screen of 3.27-inches display (almost the same as Galaxy Mini), a similar 1GHz processor, and a bigger 768MB RAM. The Galaxy Young and the Galaxy Fame look almost identical to each other and they only have few minor differences. For one, the Galaxy Young looks similar to the Galaxy Pocket because of its physical and capacitive buttons.

If these two will land at a price of less than Php10,000, it’ll not be hard to guess that it will be a big hit.  Of course some people will compare the Galaxy Fame and the Galaxy Young to our top local android phones that costs way cheaper, but hey –  it is Samsung. And with the history of extensive developer support on Samsung handsets, it will surely keep these devices afloat for a couple of years.

The price of Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Young are still unknown but we’re guessing that it will replace their current low-end androids – Galaxy Y and Galaxy Pocket. Hopefully, they will be priced competitively. We’ll let you know once we get more information on their pricing and release date in the Philippines.
