Sony finally launched their own flagship smartphone in the Philippines dubbed as the Sony Xperia Ion just last week. Interestingly, the Ion is not like the usual  flagship device from other manufacturers this year. The reason, is that it only sports a dual-core processor wherein its competition already possess a quad-core chip. However, being the top of the line Xperia device, this android surely has lots of awesome features. Lets check it below.

Sony-Xperia-ion-philippinesThe Sony Xperia Ion flaunts a 4.6-inch HD capacitive screen at 720 x 1280 resolution display backed up by Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 1GB of RAM, and on board storage of 16GB – plus the support for microSD card which means you can go as high as 48GB if you’ll purchase a 32GB microSD card. In terms of camera, it has the nicest among all current flagship smartphone carrying a 12MP shooter with Sony’s Exmor R lens for mobile. The Sony Xperia Ion also supports 4G LTE, however, our country still doesn’t have much of this type of connection yet. In spite of this, you can still access mobile data with a fast enough HSPA+ data connection.

Given the good enough processor and a GB of RAM, so is this on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? Sadly, not yet. However, don’t fret because an update will be coming home next month.

The Sony Xperia Ion will be priced at Php29,990 in the Philippines and will be available starting tomorrow, July 21, 2012. The handset is a little pricey for its specs and features because some quad-cores are being sold at a lesser price of Php27,990 – LG Optimus 4X HD.
