It didn’t take long for another locally branded slate to debut with an Intel processor inside. The Starmobile Engage 9i is an 8.9-inch tablet with dual core Intel Atom Z2580 processor and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It will cost Php9,990.

With a WUXGA resolution and 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio, the Starmobile Engage 9i is being marketed by the company as a tablet for an amazing multimedia experience. By looking at the specs alone, this upcoming device sure seems capable of delivering such experience, what with an IPS display and sufficiently fast CPU and GPU. Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology promises efficient multi-tasking and smooth frame rates when playing games.

With a large capacity battery, the Starmobile Engage 9i promises up to 8 hours on video time or 10 hours of surf time. Build quality is pegged as elegant, stylish, and tough. Video recording at 1080p is quite possible thru the device’s rear camera. Anyone looking for reviews should check out what people are saying about the Ramos I9 tablet, as the Engage 9i is basically a rebranding of it.

There’s no GPS on tablet. The Starmobile Engage 9i is also just a pure tablet with no call and text capabilities. As such, there’s no built-in 3G connectivity, though there’s support for external dongle for Internet on the go. This USB OTG compatibility also allows directly connecting to flash storage drives.

The announcement of this Starmobile tablet came hard on the heels of the company’s first octa-core smartphone and the Cloudfone CloudPad 800W, the latter of which also comes bearing an Intel processor.

With a suggested retail price of Php9,990, the Starmobile Engage 9i will soon arrive in stores in the first week of February.

  1. Bakit umaabot sa 55 degrees Celsius ung battery temperature nito kahit di ginagamit? Nakapatay na ung unit as in power turned off pero mainit parin. Walang running apps, naka airplane mode, lowest brightness setting. Lahat na ng pagtitipid sa battery ginawa ko na but it is still freaking hot! Its not warm. Its hot! The unit was just 3 days old when I got it.

    1. Ibalik mo sa pinagbilhan mo 3 days pa lang pala eh. Kung hindi ginagamit tapos sobrang init dapat palitan yan teh.

      1. Ang problema, replacement unit na to. Ayaw na papalitan, need nanaman ulit pumunta sa Kapitolyo. Yung una kasi naming binili is Engage Quad 8+ na ayaw mag download ng apps tapos baliktad yung cam and super hina ng speakers.

Regarding my engage 9i, I discovered that the usb cord is the one responsible for the heat. I tried to use an original LG usb cord and use the original starmobile adapter and it worked fine. Yun nga lang, a 6500mAh battery takes time to be fully charged. Battery Doctor app also helped alot bec I get to monitor the temperature. Di na sya umaabot ng more than 50 degrees celsius.
