Starmobile Play Lite

As if its recent barrage of handsets is not yet enough, here comes another one.

The Starmobile Play LiTE is another entry-level smartphone with a heavy emphasis on the 700MHz LTE band support. It looks like its back is made up of metal with a resemblance to the design of the iPhone.

While it’s at Php3,990, it’s not much different from cheaper competitors. It’s got a disappointing 480 x 854 pixel resolution screen which is really low compared to 720p screens of handsets like the Cherry Mobile Flare J5. A quad-core MediaTek chipset runs everything with a middling 1GB of RAM for multitasking. There’s also only 8GB of expandable storage out of the box.

To be honest, I can’t really understand why the Starmobile Play LiTE was priced like this. Having 700MHz band support is not necessarily a premium, so they should’ve upgraded the other specs. And if I’m going to choose, I’d rather go with something from Cherry Mobile as it offers more value for money.

The Starmobile Play LiTE will be available on the 2nd week of December for a price of Php3,990. It also comes bundled with Super Pack 600 Smart Prepaid SIM which gives up to 600MB of free data allocation for 1 whole year.
