The health crisis forced people to work or learn from home. This led to a spike in demand for bigger devices, which is why we are seeing brands that resisted making one now releasing their first-gen tablets. One of them is Vivo with their aptly named Vivo Pad.
Vivo is aiming right away at the high-end market by rigging the Vivo Pad with fancy features. For starters, it’s powered by a then-flagship but still powerful Snapdragon 870 processor. This allowed the device to have a capable USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port that has 5Gbps speeds that can handle fast external drives or displays of up to 4K at 60Hz.

Using the native display is not too shabby, either. We’re looking at a large 11-inch FHD+ panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and four speakers with Dolby Atmos technology for audio. The screen can support a stylus with up to 4,096 levels of pressure.
Speaking of accessories, you can get it with an optional keyboard case that has a built-in trackpad and kickstand.

There’s a front-facing camera on the top of the screen for selfies and video calls. Next to it is the 3D ToF sensor for a more secure face unlock as it lacks a fingerprint scanner.
It managed to have two cameras on the back, 13-megapixels and 8-megapixel ultra-wide, in a layout similar to the also-new X Fold and X Note.

It then has a decent 8,040mAh battery that’s paired with a 44W fast charging. The thin 6.55mm all metal-build makes it thinner than a smartphone, but the 489g weight feels like you’re holding about two smartphones.

The Vivo Pad starts at CNY2,499 (around Php20,500) for the 8GB/128GB, while the top-tier 8GB/256GB variant is at CNY2,999 (around Php24,500). Despite its mobile chipset, it doesn’t seem to have a cellular variant. Sales start on April 15 in China, no word yet if it’s coming to countries like the Philippines.
