Vivo V5

Vivo has unleashed a new selfie-centric smartphone – the Vivo V5.

No doubt, OPPO is currently the most popular brand when it comes to selfie smartphone cameras. But with this announcement, it seems like Vivo is planning to get a bigger share of the pie.

And it’s not all about megapixels today. They didn’t just stuff it with 20-megapixels, but they included an LED flash in front to help with taking pictures in low-light situations. It’s actually a Sony IMX 376 sensor with a 5P lens system and an aperture of f/2.0. The back camera is rated at 13-megapixels, with phase detection autofocus and LED flash.

Of course, Vivo took care of all the basics, too. The Vivo V5 has a 5.5-inch 720p screen, 64-bit octa-core chipset, 4GB RAM, and 32GB of storage which is expandable up to 128GB. It supports USB OTG, AK4346 Hi-Fi audio, and fingerprint scanner. It measures around 7.55m thin, but it still managed to squeeze in a sizeable battery.

Like most smartphones, it still falls short in the operating system. Instead of shipping with the latest Nougat, buyers would have to settle with a less updated Marshmallow with the company’s FunTouch skin on top. No word yet about its plans on updating the device, but don’t expect too much as majority of handsets are still stuck with MM at this moment.

The Vivo V5 price is INR 17,980 (in India) or approximately Php13,000 when converted here in the Philippines. It will be available for purchase starting November 26.
