Are you tired of the limitations of iOS? Do you not trust Android’s security features? You might want to shift platforms with this new device from a German company, the Volla Phone X23.

The new Volla Phone X23 comes in two platform options. The brand’s own Volla OS, which the company claims “respects your privacy”. This open-source platform doesn’t depend on the cloud. The OS has many security features to protect your data and enough customization settings and essential apps.

You can also get the device with Ubuntu Touch, which is said to be puristic, practical, and clear. You can switch between operating systems using the multi-boot function.

The device itself is pretty rugged. It is IP68 dust and waterproof, Mil-STD-810H certified, and more importantly, has a removable battery.

On the back is a 48-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide that doubles as a macro lens. The cameras are surrounded by an LED ring that acts as a notification indicator.

There’s a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the front, which is on top of the compact 6.1-inch HD+ display. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor, with only 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The Volla Phone X23 is now up for pre-order for a price of EUR522 (~Php30,700) and ship this May.
