The Samsung Galaxy S9 clearly has a lot of advantages when compared to the ASUS Zenfone 5Z. But then again, it is Php16,000 more expensive than the latter.
For one, it has a sharper screen at QHD+ resolution and a better Super AMOLED display panel. Clearly, that’s miles better than the Full HD+ IPS panel found on the Zenfone 5Z.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 also has better cameras. The ASUS Zenfone 5Z might have a dual-camera setup at the back, but the Galaxy S9’s dual-aperture feature and 960fps slow-mo recording capability is a rare feat on any smartphone today.

But if you think about it, the ASUS Zenfone 5Z is still a really capable device. It might not have all the bells and whistles that the Galaxy S9 has, but it’s still a proper flagship smartphone.
This handset runs on a Snapdragon 845 chipset which is one of the fastest processors right now. To its benefit, it has 50% more RAM and twice the storage capacity when compared to the Galaxy S9.
Lastly, ASUS was able to squeeze in a slightly larger 3300mAh battery, which we expect to perform better than the Galaxy S9’s 3000mAh battery since it will be powering a lower-resolution screen.
To wrap it up, I think the ASUS Zenfone 5Z is going to be your practical option for its relatively affordable price of Php29,995. But if you want to go all out in features, plus a unique-looking smartphone that doesn’t look like another iPhone X copycat, then the Php45,990 Samsung Galaxy S9 is for you.
