Vivo belongs in the top 5 smartphone vendors in the Philippines. But now that Huawei is also trying to penetrate the midrange market with full force, Vivo’s spot in the list might be in danger.
Today, we’ll be taking a look at the two’s offering in the midrange market — a market segment that played a huge part in the growth of international brands here in the Philippines.
With this, we can figure out if Huawei has what it takes to take over Vivo. Can the P20 Lite take the brand further, or will the V9 help extend its brand lead? Let’s figure that out in our Huawei P20 Lite and Vivo V9 specs comparison.

It looks like both the Huawei P20 Lite and Vivo V9 are made to go head to head with each other. Both devices resulted in a draw score in almost every segment of this comparison. However, several of them were won by the Vivo V9.
The two share almost the same screen size, but the V9 is slightly relatively larger at 6.3-inches when compared to the 5.84-inch screen found on the P20 Lite. They also have the same Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, but a few people would surely appreciate the larger screen real estate.
The V9 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 processor, while Huawei used their own Kirin 659 chipset for the P20 Lite (aka Nova 3e). Both phones also have the same 4GB RAM capacity and 64GB of storage space.
They also have a dual-camera setup at the back, which is quickly becoming a standard in the midrange industry today. Both have a 16-megapixel primary shooter, although the V9 has a bigger 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The Vivo V9 also has a better 24-megapixel selfie camera when compared to the 16-megapixel sensor found on the former.

And lastly, the V9 has a 3,260mAh battery capacity — marginally bigger than the 3,000mAh on the P20 Lite. But considering the larger screen size, the two phones should have almost the same battery life.
But at the end of the day, it will boil down to the price. The Vivo V9 retails for a price of Php17,990, while the official local pricing of the P20 Lite is yet to be determined until its official launch later this month.
The Huawei P20 Lite would be more lucrative it will have a cheaper price tag than the said competition. But if it will be much more expensive, then going with the Vivo V9 is a no-brainer.
