It has been a really close fight between these two phones. Both have an equally interesting set of specs and appealing price. So to help you decide which one to get, let’s list down the pros and cons of each respective devices.

Let’s start with the Redmi 6. The most obvious advantage that the Redmi 6 has over the OPPO A3s is its processor. Xiaomi used a newer and slightly more powerful 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor on the Redmi 6. That has a higher clock speed and a 12nm process, while the Snapdragon 450 on the OPPO A3s was built on a 14nm process.

In addition, the base model of the Xiaomi Redmi 6 has a 3GB/32GB configuration, which you can stretch to a 4GB/64GB setup by paying a couple of hundred pesos more. On the other hand, the A3s is only available in a lower 2GB/16GB model.

Xiaomi was also able to cram in a fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 6, while the OPPO A3s only has Face Unlock. And thanks to its newer processor, the Redmi 6 has a more reliable WiFi ac and Bluetooth 5.0. This device also has an infrared blaster in case you need one.

Now we head on to the OPPO A3s. This device steals the show with its larger 6.2-inch HD+ screen with a tall 19:9 aspect ratio that was made possible by its display notch on top.

The OPPO A3s’ 8-megapixel camera on the front is obviously better than the 5-megapixel selfie snapper of the Redmi 6. And lastly, there’s the 4,230mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the 3,000mAh battery of the Redmi 6.

Probably the most interesting fact about the A3s is that it’s cheaper than the Redmi Xiaomi 6. The OPPO A3s has a price tag of Php6,990, which is Php500 cheaper than the Xiaomi Redmi 6’s starting price of Php7,490.

To wrap it up, if you want a smartphone with a slightly better processor, has more RAM and storage, and comes with a few extras like a fingerprint scanner and an infrared blaster, then paying an extra Php500 for the Xiaomi Redmi 6 would be really worth it.

But if you want a smartphone with a bigger screen, a more appealing design, better cameras, and a really large battery, then the OPPO A3s is still a safe option as it’s not only cheaper, but it’s also a very good smartphone.

The OPPO A3s is now available through numerous OPPO concept stores, kiosks, and third-party resellers around the Philippines. On the other hand, you can only get the Xiaomi Redmi 6 in authorized Mi stores in the metro. If you don’t have the time to go outside and shop, you can buy both of these devices in the comforts of your home via their official stores in Lazada and Shopee.

  1. Oppo A3s is better since the screen is not dull, has a bigger battery and better cameras. Want to go even cheaper? Go for the Realme C1, which is an oppo sub brand to take on redmi. The C1 is an A3s clone.

  2. The OPPO F9, their current midrange superstar in the Philippines, offers tons of refinements over its predecessor. – I beg to differ, releasing a phone 6 months after the f7, you really won’t see a lot of differences. As you can see, oppo has very minor upgrades on the f9. They were in a hurry to release that because there’s a ton of really good and affordable releases from Xiaomi and Huawei that won’t rape your wallet like what oppo and vivo does. Namely the Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, huawei nova 3, 3i and the honor play.

However, when Xiaomi announced the Poco F1, they just blew the marketplace into tiny bits lol.
