The OPPO F9 is definitely one of the most popular midrange devices in the Philippines today. But along with it are tons of other competitors which strive to outclass each other.
OPPO surely knows what most people want on a smartphone — selfie-taking features and capable gaming performance. The OPPO F9 definitely have that, partnered with the company’s strong marketing prowess, this device became a best-seller nationwide.
But then, here comes a new device that aims to take on the F9. And this one came from a brand that not a lot of people might have heard off.
What we’re talking about here is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, a new smartphone from the company that’s beloved by most tech enthusiasts and Android fans.
In our OPPO F9 versus Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 specifications and features comparison, we shall see if the latter’s presumed appealing features are enough to battle the former’s nationwide popularity. Let’s start!

To nobody’s surprise, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 easily dominated the OPPO F9 in this battle. The interesting part is, the Redmi Note 7 was able to accomplish it while having a much cheaper price tag.
Its most obvious win lies in the camera department. The Redmi Note 7 is one of the first smartphones to come equipped with a 48-megapixel primary camera. That’s a rare find, even in most high-end devices in the market today.
As of writing, we can only find this in smartphones like the Huawei Nova 4 and the Honor View V20. Meanwhile, the OPPO F9 only has a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel combo on the back.
However, the OPPO F9 still dominates the selfie department. It comes with a 25-megapixel front-facing camera, with AR stickers, AI face beauty, and other novelty features. The Redmi Note 7 also has some of those software features, but it has a substantially lower 13-megapixel front sensor.
The OPPO F9 also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5, while the former only has Gorilla Glass 3. It also has a powerful MediaTek Helio P60 processor, which can rival the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset that’s hidden underneath the Redmi Note 7.
But other than that, we’re still boarding the Redmi Note 7 train all the way. This handset brags a bigger 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support. OPPO does have their own (and faster) VOOC flash charge technology, but the F9 only comes with a smaller 3,500mAh battery.

Xiaomi also used a more modern USB Type-C implementation on their latest release, while the F9 is still using the outdated microUSB port.
And now onto the most interesting part, the price. The OPPO F9 is only available in a 6GB/64GB configuration and has a retail price of Php17,990.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 will start at CNY999 for the 3GB/32GB model. When directly converted, it will only be around Php7,700. You can also get the 6GB/64GB configuration for only CNY1,399 (~Php10,800).
These price estimations will still go up once local taxes and fees are applied when it gets here in the Philippines. But still, we don’t expect the top-of-the-line model to be priced north of Php15k, making it relatively cheaper than the OPPO F9.
The official release date of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 here in the Philippines is yet to be announced. As for the OPPO F9, you can get it at gadget stores in malls and OPPO kiosks nationwide.
Obviously if you dont want to get overpriced, you go with xiaomi.
