Huawei has been stepping up their game in the budget sector recently. Lead by the Nova 2i last year, Huawei aims to be the new value-oriented smartphone maker for the Philippine market.
However, this also means that the company will go against other Chinese companies who have been doing the same thing. One of them is Vivo, which is known for their low-end and midrange offerings here in the country.
What we are taking a look at now are some of their most affordable products — the Vivo Y71 and Huawei Y6 2018. Both devices are under Php9,000 — a very competitive segment where other companies like Xiaomi, OPPO, ASUS, and Samsung also compete in.
But the question is, which between the two is the right smartphone for you? Can Huawei Y6 2018 justify every penny you would be paying? Or is the Vivo Y71 the most worthy option? Let’s answer that in our Huawei Y6 2018 vs Vivo Y71 specifications and features comparison.

It’s a tough battle between these two handsets. As shown in the table above, both the Huawei Y6 2018 and the Vivo Y71 are almost the same — at least in the specs sheet.
For starters, the two are rocking almost the same screen. Both have HD+ resolution, which is probably the best that you can get in this price range. However, the Vivo Y71 is marginally larger at 6-inches, while the latter is only 5.7-inches.
They are also equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. The Y6 2018 has a 13-megapixel rear shooter, which is relatively better than the 8-megapixel primary camera found on the Y71.
Huawei’s smartphone is packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor while Vivo’s is equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 450 CPU. The Huawei Y6 2018 has 2GB of RAM, while the Vivo Y71 is available in 2GB and 3GB flavors. The storage capacity is a standard 16GB configuration, which can go up to 256GB by using a microSD card.
The Vivo Y71 also had some marginal wins against the competition. For one, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, while the former only comes with Android 8.0. Its 3360mAh battery is also marginally better than the 3360mAh battery found on the Y6 2018.

At the end of the day, the specs table proves that the Vivo Y71 is more appealing than the Huawei Y6 2018. It runs on a newer version of Android, has a bigger screen, and a larger battery capacity.
But then again, our aim here is to figure out which between the two offers better value for the money. And with that, the Huawei Y6 2018 is the clear winner. This smartphone only retails for Php5,990, while the Vivo Y71 — with the same 2GB configuration — costs Php7,990. If you need more processing power, go with the Vivo Y71. Otherwise, the Huawei Y6 2018 should perform just fine.
