Low-end smartphones have always been the bread and butter of numerous brands here in the Philippines. Unlike their high-end offerings, their affordable smartphones are proven to be a hit in this country and other emerging markets of the world.
With that, big names like Huawei and Samsung always pour their efforts into creating these kinds of smartphones despite already making the best-in-class devices that flaunt all their engineering prowess.
And if you think about it, producing a low-cost handset also requires smart engineering. Imagine, companies need to come up with the best possible smartphone they can make from the economical price tag that their consumers are willing to pay.
That’s why we’re curious to see if two of the biggest names in the Android space were able to do that. So today, we’ll be comparing the specifications and features of their low-end smartphones — the Huawei Y6 2018 and Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro.

It looks like the Huawei Y6 2018 takes the win from the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 like taking a candy from a baby. This proves that Huawei does actually have what it takes to come up with a good value-oriented smartphone — something that they are also doing on their more expensive P20-series.
The Huawei Y6 2018 runs on a newer Android version. It ships with the Oreo operating system with a layer of EMUI 8.0. On the other hand, the Galaxy J2 Pro only has Android 7.1 Nougat which is quite outdated by today’s standards.
Huawei’s bet also comes with a bigger 5.7-inch screen and a sharper HD+ resolution. That’s some impressive feat, especially when you compared it to the 5-inch qHD screen of its competitor.

The two shares the same Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor — a chipset that comes standard in this price bracket. However, the 2GB RAM on the Huawei Y6 2018 is obviously more enticing than the 1.5GB memory on the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro.
And to finish it up, the Huawei Y6 2018 has a better 13-megapixel rear camera, a bigger 3000mAh battery, and a cheaper price tag. The Galaxy J2 Pro does have a fingerprint scanner, something that the Y6 2018 lacks, but that doesn’t make up for all the loses that it had.
What’s more interesting is, the Huawei Y6 2018 was able to win this comparison despite having a cheaper price tag of Php5,990. Meanwhile, the Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 is significantly more expensive, Php1,500 to be exact, at its price of Php7,490.
In the end, it all boils down to the consumer’s preferences. Whatever you end up picking, you can get these two devices at their brand’s respective concept shops, kiosks, official online stores, and third-party retailers in the Philippines.
I think the Samsung J2 pro is better I have that last month.and I will buy it again tommorow.
