Where the OPPO Find N2 Flip is tested for quality
We’ve seen it before with the Find X and the R15. Before it went into mass production, the Find N2 Flip also had to undergo several engineering tests at the OPPO Quality Engineer Reliability Lab to make sure this high-end flip phone reached the level of quality that would guarantee customer satisfaction.
The lab has been operating since 2008 to maintain high-standard quality among OPPO’s products. There are more than a hundred kinds of device tests conducted here, and some of the more interesting tests are classified under two categories: mechanical testing and environment adaptability testing.

QE Reliability Lab Mechanical Tests
OPPO conducts mechanical tests to evaluate the durability and structural integrity of its smartphones. In order to simulate real-world conditions, the devices are put under different types of physical stresses to check if they can withstand these conditions without breaking or malfunctioning. Perhaps the most common mechanical test people are familiar with is the drop test, as online tech publications and vloggers often include this test as part of their smartphone reviews.

OPPO does this test by dropping a phone from a height of 1.5 meters over 30 times, as well as dropping steel balls onto the device, and then examining for cracks and deformations. There’s also the micro-drop test, which is for evaluating the reliability and performance of smartphone components when subjected to physical damage. The company tests each device for 12 up to 32 times.
Other mechanical tests include the tumbling barrel test for simulating the effect of shaking and tumbling as the phone is carried around, the plug-and-unplug test for checking how long-lasting the charging port is on repeated use, the twist test for measuring the phone’s resistance to twisting, and the buttons test for testing the durability of physical buttons.

QE Reliability Lab Environment Adaptability Tests
Environment adaptability tests, on the other hand, examine how well smartphones can perform under different environmental conditions. A smartphone’s ingress protection or IP rating is determined by subjecting the device to varying levels of dust and water exposure. With an IPX7 rating, for example, a phone has passed a water immersion test that’s one meter deep for half an hour, whereas IPX4 rating means a phone only has protection against splashes of water.
Besides evaluating their protection against water and dust, smartphones may also undergo the UV test to measure the effects of prolonged exposure to sunlight and dew, the sweat test to see if sweat can have an impact on the device functionality, and temperature tests to see if the smartphones can still work when subjected to extreme temperature and humidity conditions.

Aside from the typical waterproofing, the OPPO Find N2 Flip is also subjected to extremely hot and cold environments. The units are placed in a chamber with temperatures of up to 95°C and -40°C for 7 days.
There’s also the spray test, which involves exposing OPPO devices to a 5% salt spray in a hot and humid environment in 3 sessions for 2 hours each. This is to test the corrosion resistance of the units.
OPPO Find N2 Flip Folding Test
Speaking of temperature tests, the OPPO Find N2 Flip also had to go through a folding test under extremely high and low-temperature conditions to measure the durability and reliability of the Flexion Hinge. Thanks to this redefining teardrop-shaped feature, the smartphone has a barely noticeable screen crease and can completely close without any gaps.
The test procedure involves placing a Find N2 Flip unit under two parameters, one at 50°C with 95-percent humidity and the other at -40°C, and then folding and closing the unit for several cycles in a single minute. This is then repeated up to 100,000 times for each parameter. In total, OPPO says they do the folding and unfolding for up to 400,000 times to ensure the quality of the device.
OPPO Find N2 Flip Future Developments

In a recent factory tour at OPPO Headquarters in Shenzhen, China, our team was also able to learn about future developments for the Find N2 Flip. We’ve already learned that the phone will receive an update that comes with a Spotify widget and speech-to-text quick reply feature and many more.
But on top of that, the smartphone will receive additional updates for more apps to support its cover screen. The two that are confirmed as part of the fifteen apps that OPPO is developing support for are TikTok and YouTube. OPPO is also working with Google to allow support dial on the Find N2 Flip cover screen. This will let users look up their contacts to make a call.
OPPO meanwhile openly dismissed other features, such as drawing and handwriting, stating that they’re not part of its development plan for the Find N2 Flip at the moment. The company indicated that the form factor needs to be accounted for in order to deliver the best user experience and functionality.
